The Weekend

Well, what a weekend it has been. I include Thursday in the weekend because it all started then. Thursday, I left work, headed to the Dr. to get my allergy shot (not a big deal, I do it twice a week). This time, when I left the Dr., the car would not start. Unfortuanately I was not in the Malibu, the old car, the one we have had for 4 years. I was in the Trail Blazer. The car we bought 1 month ago. I called Mike, and we still could not get it to start. So, his dad (who is really really really sick) came and helped us tow it to their house. Kyle (cousin) came over to look at it, and low and behold the Trail Blazer needs a new fuel pump. NOT cheap for that car. But because Kyle loves us he is willing to do the work on his day off, so we are only out a few hundred for the part instead of a thousand for the part and labor. THANKS KYLE!!!
Then Saturday morning we were awoken at 5:45 to the sound of the smoke alarms going off. Mike jumped out of bed raced down stairs. It took me a second to realize what was going on. When I jumped out of bed I sort of sank into the carpet. It was WET!. Immediately I panicked, because we had a 75 gallon salt water fish tank in the room next to ours. My fears were confirmed when I walked in the room and the tank was missing about 40 gallons, and the floor was absolutely soaked. Mike started scoopin water, and I got onthe horn (phone) with his parents and my parents. Families really are life savers. Cyndi brought over her industrial floor cleaner, and Patti brought over their floor cleaner and 2 shop-vacs. Thanks so much for helping us save our floor! You guys are great. I will post pics of the disaster that is left when I get a chance. Just a word of advice, Don't put a fish tank on the second floor...when you do, you have to replace the celing on the first floor :( Don't worry though, the fish were saved, and now reside in Alan's tank, until we can figure out what to do with them. So by the end if it all we are without carpet in the hall upstars, 1/2 of the second bedroom and 1/2 of our bedroom. A wonderful place called Restore Masters is going to save our life!! They came out and disinfected the subfloor upstarirs, they showed us what walls have moisture in them, and they notified us that the cealing of the first floor is completely wet and ruined, and will need to be replaced. That part is not saving our life, but saving our house. There is more to come I am sure. Below is some pics of the upstairs mess.
