Winter Wonderland

So, I may get in a little bit of trouble for this, but Jamie had such a beautiful wedding at the Bountiful temple that I could not help myself, and I needed to show a few pictures of my fun, beautiful, exquisite sister. She was the only bride willing to go out and take some fun pictures in the mountains of snow that decided to fall on December 13th, 2008. I am so excited for her. CONGRATULATIONS JAMIE & DEREK!!
I LOVE THE BEAUTIFUL RED COAT SHE CHOSE TO ACCENT HER DAY PERFECTLY

Why the Birthday Celebration?

Because MY birthday comes between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I always get skipped. I always get the "This is for your birthday and Christmas" gift. And I didn't want to get jipped (sp?) this year, so I am celebrating myself!! YEAH FOR ME!

I got tagged...what does that mean?

SWEETHEART TAG
Each person answers questions about their sweethearts. At the end of the post, the person then tags 6 people and posts their names; then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged.

What is your husbands name? Mikey D
How long have you guys been married? Almost 4 1/2 years
How long did you date? Off & On for 5 years (counting the mission writing)
How old is he? 26
Who is taller? Mike
Who can sing best? Me
Who is smarter? Depends on the subject. I know crap about cameras but I know lots about other stuff.
Who does laundry? Mainly Me
Who pays the bills? Me
Who mows the lawn? The HOA. If they didn't we both agree we would make my brothers do it.
The Who cooks dinner? Which ever fast food restaraunt sounds good that day. :)
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? We are both to stubborn to admit we are ever wrong.
Who kissed who first? He kissed me, but that doesn't mean I kissed back!!
Who wears the pants? We each wear one leg.

Since I don't have many people to tag..I tag BreAn and Cami. Love you Both!!

It's About Time

Well, we are not back in our house completely yet but at least we have most of a celing now. All that is left is to paint it, and the wall that was removed. Not too much left...for that disaster. Next we move on to the foundation issue. Oh well, it is fun having our first house and even kinda fun having all these issues. I now know how to pull up carpet (call someone) , pull down a celing (call someone), put up a celing (call someone), lay down carpet (call someone) and I will know how to fix a foundation because, you guessed it, I am going to call someone. I am learning little tricks as we go along so next time I wont have to make quite so many calls. Mike and I are having a heck of a time eating out at Patti's house or anyone else who will feed us. With the house debacle I am not able to get to the stove or oven so we eat microwaveable foods when we eat at home. That and lots of popsicles. It is just another leg on our fun adventure.

Our Kitchen...see you can't blame me for not cooking

UPDATES!!

Well, the celling in the front room needs to be replaced so of course before you can replace something, you must take it out. Thanks to the help of Matt, Dad, and Shawn we was able to get the front room cleared out. that meant moving the 150 gallon fish tank (not broken) out as well as our couches and dining room set. Needless to say we are not able to park in the garage right now. I am oh so thankful though that we bought the 2 car garage edition, we would be out of room if we didnt.

While we were busy pulling up carpet for the demo we found a cute little (well not so little I guess) suprise. We have a crack in the foundation that runs around the entire house. From what people say when we describe it, our house is basically sinking. We have to talk to the HOA and see if they cover it or if we have to do something about it. When all is said and done with this house, at least Mike and I will know how to address these issues, if they happen again). A first house is good for something, and ours is good for teaching us patience that is for sure.

The demo of the celling was not quite what we expected. They showed up at 7:30pm and did not leave until 9:45 pm. Our bishopric and Jake and Elaina came over to visit us while the demo was happening. It was kinda cool to listen to. Below are pictures of Kevin and his work associate taking out the celling.

The Weekend

Well, what a weekend it has been. I include Thursday in the weekend because it all started then. Thursday, I left work, headed to the Dr. to get my allergy shot (not a big deal, I do it twice a week). This time, when I left the Dr., the car would not start. Unfortuanately I was not in the Malibu, the old car, the one we have had for 4 years. I was in the Trail Blazer. The car we bought 1 month ago. I called Mike, and we still could not get it to start. So, his dad (who is really really really sick) came and helped us tow it to their house. Kyle (cousin) came over to look at it, and low and behold the Trail Blazer needs a new fuel pump. NOT cheap for that car. But because Kyle loves us he is willing to do the work on his day off, so we are only out a few hundred for the part instead of a thousand for the part and labor. THANKS KYLE!!!
Then Saturday morning we were awoken at 5:45 to the sound of the smoke alarms going off. Mike jumped out of bed raced down stairs. It took me a second to realize what was going on. When I jumped out of bed I sort of sank into the carpet. It was WET!. Immediately I panicked, because we had a 75 gallon salt water fish tank in the room next to ours. My fears were confirmed when I walked in the room and the tank was missing about 40 gallons, and the floor was absolutely soaked. Mike started scoopin water, and I got onthe horn (phone) with his parents and my parents. Families really are life savers. Cyndi brought over her industrial floor cleaner, and Patti brought over their floor cleaner and 2 shop-vacs. Thanks so much for helping us save our floor! You guys are great. I will post pics of the disaster that is left when I get a chance. Just a word of advice, Don't put a fish tank on the second floor...when you do, you have to replace the celing on the first floor :( Don't worry though, the fish were saved, and now reside in Alan's tank, until we can figure out what to do with them. So by the end if it all we are without carpet in the hall upstars, 1/2 of the second bedroom and 1/2 of our bedroom. A wonderful place called Restore Masters is going to save our life!! They came out and disinfected the subfloor upstarirs, they showed us what walls have moisture in them, and they notified us that the cealing of the first floor is completely wet and ruined, and will need to be replaced. That part is not saving our life, but saving our house. There is more to come I am sure. Below is some pics of the upstairs mess.
